Okay, so another of my little friends (she's four) recently told me a secret. She had a birthday gift for her mom. "And I wrapped it in this sock." I was curious. "What is it?" I asked.
"Um, it's a piece of a necklace," she said, then hurried on: "But it's not broken. I found it in the laundry room." She then went on to explain how it's customary not to tell someone what their gift is until their birthday, so as to surprise them.
