TEHRAN, IRAN–Islamic fundamentalists are challenging Americans on the home court–literally. A group called Is-Slam has sponsored a traveling basketball team whose goal is to take on and defeat Western athletes. "We've always known that America and the West are the great Satan," said Mullah Mohammed Omar. "But American forces have interfered with our ability to train terrorists at our camps. So we switched to basketball. We want to get our game on and get in their faces."
Members of the elite team spent months training in the deserts of Iran and Saudi Arabia, working on skills like dribbling, shooting, and full court press. But Omar says the training transcends athletic skills. "We're also focusing on the hip-hop culture that harmonizes so well with the game," he said. "Our Muslim players are working on their style as well as their playing. Our latest fashions include cocking the turban to the side, and low-riding robes. Corn-row and braided beards are sure to be next."
Omar also said that the Muslim team will be brushing up on their ghetto lingo, especially as popularized by rapper Snoop Dogg. "We don't mind a little cultizzle from the Wizzest up in our crib, fo shizzle, my nizzle," he said, "so long as we can bust a cap on 'em up in they grill. And when we get our gizzame on the bizzle we gonna sizzle in a wizzle dat's out da hizzle."
