Drywall Workers Discover US Constitution

WASHINGTON, D. C.–Drywall contractors working in the US Capitol made a celebrated discovery Tuesday. David Frank and Enrique Martinez of Beltway Drywall and Plastering, Inc. were repairing a wall in the building when they found the US Constitution. They had been removing plaster when they noticed some old parchment behind the crumbling wall. "At first I thought it was just some old newspaper from a past plaster job," said Frank. "But the writing looked kind of funny." Frank and Martinez rescued the paper and brought it to Capitol security, who didn't know what the paper was either.

"We weren't sure what was going on," said security guard Jason Klein. "I hadn't seen anything like it before, but someone said it looked like a constitution, so we handed it over to Congress."

Congressional reaction was equally strong. "For years I'd heard rumors that we had a constitution," said Senate majority leader Bill Frist (R-TN). "But to actually find it, and in the wall, too!" Sen. Joseph Lieberman (D-CT) commented, "I haven't been this excited since, well, I've never been this excited."

But the Congress wasn't all joy at the discovery. Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) expressed concern that the document may lead to complications. "Now that we found out we've got a constitution, we have to reconsider our procedures in light of it," she said. "And that may result in some unnecessary limitations on Congress."

This is priceless.

To see some of the things that go on in congress, you'd think that we really didn't have a constitution…

Very original, chris
